Barbara Lefever, President, Trainer
Barb’s background in communications, customer service and education gave her the perfect platform to couple with her love of dogs. More than 20 years ago, Barb decided to take her award winning skills dealing with people and apply them to working with dogs and their people. After moving around the country to study with some of the best trainers in the industry, Barb settled in northeast Ohio to have easy access by car to the Midwest and by air to the rest of the world.
Working with dogs in need of rehabilitative training, Barb studied Healing Touch for Animals. She is currently the only dog training professional in the Wayne County area with HTAP credentials. Experiencing the benefits of these methods, Barb took the holistic approach a few steps further with the integration of archetypal consulting and the use of essential oils for aromatherapy, natural healing and overall health. As a result, Barb offers her clients a comprehensive approach to training and teaching by supporting the mind, body and spirit of both dogs and their owners.
Barb believes her role is to be a liaison between people and their dogs. Her mission is to help educate people about the language of dogs, how to best understand them and how to create and maintain a positive balanced relationship with them.
Barb is passionate about educating people about how to choose the right dog for their family. She is an advocate of responsible breeding and encourages people to choose OFA health tested dogs. The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) was founded to promote health and welfare of companion animals through a reduction in the incidence of genetic disease. As a result of irresponsible breeding, shelters are now filled with pure and cross bred dogs with genetic issues, both physical and mental. It is only through education that we can significantly decrease and eliminate this unnecessary problem.
